Intermountain Gas Company files decrease in prices due to federal and state tax relief
BOISE, ID – March 23, 2018 – Intermountain Gas Company filed an application with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission (IPUC) to reduce its base rates by an overall average of 5.5 percent or approximately $4.97 million. The proposed decrease to Intermountain’s base rate is a result of the recent federal and state reductions in the corporate tax rate. If approved, the decrease would be effective April 1, 2018.
If the proposed reduction is approved, residential customers of the company will see an average decrease of 2.2 percent for the total price of their natural gas service or $10.40 per year based on average weather and usage. Commercial customers, on average, would see a decrease of 1.9 percent; an annual savings of approximately $38.17.
Even with this proposed price decrease, Intermountain continues to urge all its customers to use energy wisely. Intermountain has recently launched a new Energy Efficiency Program offering rebates for installing high efficiency gas appliances. Details on this program as well as conservation tips, budget payment plans and low-income heating assistance programs, can be found at the company’s website www.intgas.com
The request is subject to public review and approval by the IPUC.
